Union Cabinet Approves Continuation of Ujjwala Yojana and Unnati Scheme for Economic Upliftment

The Union Cabinet’s recent approval for the continuation of the Ujjwala Yojana scheme reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring access to clean cooking fuel for economically vulnerable sections. The scheme, offering a subsidy of Rs 300 on cooking gas, is set to benefit over 10.27 crore individuals, providing them with 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg each year at subsidized rates. This move aligns with the government’s broader efforts to enhance the well-being of economically disadvantaged populations by addressing essential needs such as cooking fuel.

Furthermore, the allocation of Rs 10,037 crore for the Unnati scheme over a ten-year period underscores the focus on fostering industrial development and employment opportunities in the North Eastern states. Administered by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Unnati initiative aims to catalyze transformative industrialization, contributing to economic growth and prosperity in the region. These strategic initiatives showcase the government’s multi-faceted approach to socio-economic development, emphasizing the importance of inclusive policies that uplift marginalized sections of society.
