Mirabai Chanu receives a lifetime free supply of PIZZA for winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics

Mirabai Chanu, an Indian weightlifter, has received widespread acclaim after bringing home a silver medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting division at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday (July 24). Mirabai became the second female athlete from India to win an Olympic Games silver medal, following shuttler PV Sindhu. Mirabai also ended a 21-year drought for a weightlifting medal following Karnam Malleswari’s bronze medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

Mirabai couldn’t stop smiling as she savoured the moment after winning the country’s first Olympic medal. She was crowned on the podium after a tight hug with her instructor and a brief dance. The Manipur champion lifter later admitted that she has regulated her diet significantly in recent years, especially after a disastrous 2016 Rio Olympics campaign in which she failed to register a single legal lift. Mirabai indicated that she will treat herself to ‘pizza’ to commemorate this historic victory.

“The first thing I’m going to do is order a pizza. I enjoy pizza and haven’t had one in a long time “According to NDTV, Chanu said.

Domino’s India reacted quickly after Chanu disclosed her love for pizza, promising the star weightlifter a lifetime supply of pizzas to commemorate her victory.

“She said it, and we heard her say it.” We don’t want @mirabai chanu to have to wait for another slice of pizza, so we’re giving her FREE Domino’s pizza for life! Domino’s India tweeted, “#PizzasForLife.”

The weightlifter dedicated her elusive gold to the country and thanked her supporters. “Last night, I won the first medal in the Tokyo Olympics. I’d want to dedicate this medal to all of my countrymen; I won it because of them. “I want to thank everyone in India for their prayers and support,” Mirabai said in a video statement released on Sunday (July 25).
