Tisca Chopra was mocked for posting a photo of an Indonesian weightlifter while congratulating Mirabai Chanu

New Delhi: Mirabai Chanu, an Indian weightlifter, won the silver medal in the women’s 49kg category at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 on Saturday. Many Bollywood celebrities, including Kangana Ranaut, Farhan Akhtar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Janhvi Kapoor, took to social media to congratulate her on her historic victory.

Tisca Chopra, a Bollywood actress, also congratulated the weightlifting champion on Twitter. Instead of sharing Mirabai’s photo, the actress ended up sharing an image of Indonesian weightlifter Aisah Windy Cantika.

Because of her error, she was trolled on Twitter by users who accused her of being ignorant. Many people chastised her for her error with snide remarks, while others corrected her without the trolling.

Later, the actress apologised on Twitter, writing, “I’m glad you had a good time! That was a genuine mistake, and I apologise… but that doesn’t mean I’m not proud of @mirabai chanu and the rest of our contingent at the #TokyoOlympics.” ”

Chanu is the second Indian weightlifter to win an Olympic medal, following Karnam Malleswari, who won bronze in the 69kg category at the 2000 Sydney Games, when the weightlifting arena was opened to women for the first time.
