Micro-containment zones will be established in Kerala to control the spread of Covid-19

Thiruvananthapuram: With the state reporting an increase in the number of Covid – 19 cases and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) exceeding 12%, areas with high infection spread will be declared as micro containment zones if necessary.

Collectors have been instructed to place sector magistrates in micro containment zones.

The new order, which includes the direction for micro containment zones as well as a new set of guidelines, will go into effect on Monday.

The restrictions and relaxations announced previously for A,B,C,D zones would remain in effect. Central and state government offices, public sector undertakings, companies, commissions, and corporations in zones A and B will operate with a 50 percent staffing level.

Only essential services will be permitted in the C zone, while only 25% of staff will be permitted in the D zone.

On Sunday, Kerala reported 17,466 new cases of Covid 19. The Test Positivity Rate (TPR), which was 11.91 percent on Saturday, rose to 12.3 percent on Sunday. The state also reported 66 deaths, bringing the total to 16,035. A total of 15,247 people recovered from the infection.

From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., liquor is sold in bars.

Beginning today, the sale of liquor in bars will be permitted between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. throughout the state.

The same timetable would apply to BEVCO and Consumerfed liquor outlets.

So far, bars have been permitted to begin selling at 11 a.m.
