Heavy rains are expected in Kerala, with yellow alerts issued in Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod

Idukki: Heavy rain is expected in Kerala on Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Three districts have been issued a yellow alert: Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

Rainfall is expected to decrease by Wednesday, according to the IMD.

Landslides and power outages have been reported in several parts of the state, particularly in the high ranges, in recent days.

Another National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has been dispatched to Idukki.

Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Malappuram also have NDRF teams.

People living on the banks of rivers and along the coast were warned to be vigilant.

Dozens of families have already been evacuated from Malappuram’s low-lying areas and the banks of the Chaliyar river.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has issued a warning to those who live in areas prone to landslides and floods.

Despite the fact that a new low-pressure area is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal around July 28, Kerala is likely to receive only below-normal rainfall during the week of July 30 to August 5.
