New Delhi: A top government official said on Tuesday that approximately 15 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be available in August.

NITI Aayog Member-Health Dr VK Paul stated today at a press conference, “Have supply visibility of approximately 15 crore vaccine doses in the month of August; the exact numbers will be released later.”

Paul also advised people not to travel unnecessarily and emphasised that some areas, particularly Kerala and the northeastern states, remain a source of concern.

“It is necessary to avoid unnecessary travel and large crowds. This is not the time for large-scale gatherings and celebrations, and some states, such as the northeast and Kerala, continue to be a source of concern “Paul stated.

Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary of the Union Health Ministry, also commented on the current Covid situation, saying, “There is a gradual decrease in the number of districts reporting high cases. The number of districts with more than 100 cases fell from 379 on May 25, 2021 to 121 on June 25, 2021. There are still 62 districts with more than 100 cases, but they are more localised.”
