V Sivankutty’s resignation is demanded by opposition leaders

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leaders demanded the resignation of education minister V Sivankutty on Wednesday after the Supreme Court denied the government’s motion to dismiss the 2015 Assembly ruckus case.

The minister’s resignation was first demanded by Opposition Leader VD Satheesan. “There are no moral grounds for Sivankutty to continue as minister,” he said at a press conference. The UDF has stated that MLAs have no privilege in this case. The Supreme Court has now agreed to that. Sivankutty’s trial as a minister is unacceptably long, he says.

KPCC president K Sudhakaran reiterated his resignation demand. How much money did the government spend on legal fees? He went on to say that they should explain it to the people of Kerala.

Former Opposition leader and MLA Ramesh Chennithala, as well as BJP state president K Surendran, have both called for Sivankutty’s resignation.
