According to an ICMR serosurvey, Kerala has the lowest seroprevalence and MP has the highest

According to the findings of an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) serosurvey conducted between June 14 and July 6, at least two-thirds of the population surveyed in 11 states had developed coronavirus antibodies.

Madhya Pradesh has the highest seroprevalence rate at 79%, while Kerala has the lowest at 44.4%. Seroprevalence is 50.3 percent in Assam and 58% in Maharashtra.

The Union Health Ministry released the results of the fourth round of national serosurveys conducted by the ICMR across 70 districts in India on Wednesday.

Seroprevalence was found to be 76.2 percent in Rajasthan, 75.9 percent in Bihar, 75.3 percent in Gujarat, 74.6 percent in Chhattisgarh, 73.1 percent in Uttarakhand, 70.2 percent in Andhra Pradesh, 69.8 percent in Karnataka, 69.2 percent in Tamil Nadu, and 68.1 percent in Odisha.

In light of the findings, the Health Ministry has advised states and union territories to conduct their own seroprevalence studies in collaboration with the ICMR to ensure that they follow a standardised protocol.

The results of such surveys can then be quickly used by states to guide an objective, transparent, and evidence-based public health response to COVID-19.

“The ICMR national sero-survey was designed to assess the extent of Covid infection at the national level. As a result, the national serosurvey results do not reflect the variation in seroprevalence between districts or even states “a statement stated
