Everything you need to know about the 5-minute ‘no-makeup look’

New Delhi: While we all enjoy trying out the latest make-up trends and getting dolled up for a night out, there’s something to be said for a natural, fresh-faced appearance. The no-makeup look has remained popular for good reason: it is flattering on everyone, extremely simple to achieve, and extremely fast. It’s one of those make-up looks you see on the runway and on the street, and it always looks great. Gitanshi Dua, a professional make-up artist based in Delhi, shares a few tips for achieving the look:

Begin with a thorough skincare regimen. A good regimen (that you stick to on a daily basis!) is essential for nailing the no-make-up makeup look because it keeps your skin healthy and glowing without the addition of make-up. A good cleanser should always be the first step in your skincare routine. This step sets the tone for the remainder of your application process. Use a complete regimen that includes a cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturiser that are suitable for your skin type and address your skin concerns.

Choose a light concealer and only apply it to the areas that need it. Apply a full coverage creamy/hydrating concealer to conceal dark circles. An even skin tone around your eyes will make them stand out and define their shape. Remember to always use a concealer that matches your skin tone. Blend with your fingers; the heat from your skin causes the product to melt right into your skin! To hydrate your skin, you can also use tinted moisturisers, BB and CC creams.

Secure your base.

Apply a translucent setting powder or compact to your face to prepare it. Using a large fluffy make-up brush, apply a thin layer of setting powder all over your face. It absorbs any make-up or excess oil that your skin produces. Including setting powders in your make-up routine is a great idea, regardless of how much or how little time you have for make-up. Purchase a high-quality setting powder to keep your base in place all day.

Put some shimmer on your eyelids.

Choose a shimmery eyeshadow for a pretty, natural look. Apply a light shimmery shadow all over your eyelids for a natural look. After applying your blush, sweep a shimmery whitish-gold powder across your eyelids with a flat eyeshadow brush for a sheer wash of colour with a gold cast.

Isn’t it true that your daily make-up routine would be incomplete if you didn’t groom your lashes? Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and then separate them with defining mascara.

The step two is contouring.

Just because you want a no-makeup look doesn’t mean you can’t contour. Contouring can be done in such a way that no one notices it. Apply tiny dots of contour on your cheekbones and bronzer underneath, staying with liquid products this time. Blend it in thoroughly so that it doesn’t look like someone drew a line on your face. Apply a small amount of concealer diagonally beneath the contour to make it appear sharper.

Use a blusher or a tint.

A cream blush or tint adds a natural flush to the cheeks. Choose a rosy pink or an earthy peach tint for your cheeks; use a small amount of the product to achieve a stained, rosy effect. With this one, too, a little goes a long way, and fingers are the best application tools.

Use a highlighter.

Apply a small amount of highlighter to your brow bone, bridge of your nose, inner corner of your eye, Cupid’s bow, and cheekbone diagonally. This is an essential part of the no-makeup look.

Apply lip gloss or lipstick.

Finish with bare lipsticks or a tint that gives you a natural look. Find a nude that complements your skin tone, as nude is a tone that matches your lips rather than a colour.
