IndiGo Implements Fare Hike Citing Rising Fuel Costs

IndiGo has announced a price increase for both international and domestic flights, with ticket prices rising by Rs 300 to Rs 1000 due to the escalating costs of aviation fuel. The new rates came into effect immediately. Distances up to 500 km will see a Rs 300 rise, while journeys between 1001 and 1500 km will incur an additional charge of Rs 550. Longer flights between 1501 and 2500 km will have an extra cost of Rs 800, and journeys exceeding 3501 km will see a Rs 1000 increase.

IndiGo cited the necessity of this fare hike in response to the continuous surge in fuel prices. Other airlines might also follow suit. Despite these changes, IndiGo is grappling with flight delays due to aircraft malfunctions, with recent incidents causing cancellations and inconvenience to passengers.
