According to CM, the validity of PSC rank lists cannot be extended

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reiterated his earlier position on Monday, saying that extending the validity of PSC rank lists is not possible. The announcement comes just one day before the validity of certain rank lists is set to expire. The chief minister was responding to the opposition’s notice of adjournment motion in the legislature.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the CM stated that there was no delay in reporting the vacancies. If the rank lists’ validity is to be extended, special legal requirements must be met.

The CM pointed out in the assembly that extending the validity of PSC rank lists falls under the purview of the Administrative Tribunal. The argument that everyone on the list should be recruited is, in his opinion, incorrect. He added that the government is determined to make more appointments through PSC, while the opposition is taking a position that jeopardises PSC’s dignity.

Meanwhile, the opposition walked out after the Speaker denied their request to present an adjournment motion requesting an extension of the validity of PSC rank lists. They claimed that the government failed to report the vacancies and is attempting an unannounced appointment ban.
