Bhubaneswar has been the first Indian city to attain 100% COVID-19 vaccination, according to officials

New Delhi: As the country braces for a probable third wave of COVID-19, Odisha’s Bhubaneswar has become the first city in India to achieve 100 percent COVID-19 vaccination, according to Anshuman Rath, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Zonal Deputy Commissioner of South-East, Bhubaneswar.

In an interview with the news agency ANI, Anshuman Rath stated, “We had set a goal of completing vaccinations within a specified time frame. The BMC maintains a record of around nine lakh persons in the city who are over the age of 18. This number comprises around 31 thousand healthcare employees and 33 thousand front-line personnel. 5 lakh 17 thousand persons are between the ages of 18 and 44. 3 lakh 25 thousand people are over the age of 45. We had established a goal for these categories to complete their vaccinations by July 31.”

Rath went on to say, “We have already vaccinated 18 lakh 16 thousand persons in the city, according to the report. Only a few persons were unable to take first does for a variety of reasons. There is a migrant population working in their office in Bhubaneswar and receiving the first Covaxin jab.”

The South-East Zonal Deputy Commissioner also discussed the vaccination of pregnant women. “Pregnant women are obtaining their first dose of vaccine at vaccination clinics. BMC operates 55 vaccination centres around Bhubaneswar, including 30 primary health and community centres, 15 mobilized centres, and more than 10 drive-in vaccination centres. I thank the citizens of Bhubaneswar for assisting BMC in meeting the Covid-19 vaccination target. Because of the BMC’s micro-planning, Bhubaneswar has become the city with 100 percent Covid-19 immunization coverage “Rath said.
