Indian film stars Akshay Kumar, Kartik Aaryan, Taapsee Pannu, and Shahid Kapoor, among others, expressed pride in ace shuttler P V Sindhu’s historic win at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020 on Sunday.
Sindhu became only the second Indian to win two Olympic medals, claiming bronze after defeating world no. 9 in straight games. China’s He Bing Jiao won the third-place play-off in the women’s singles.
She had secured a silver in the 2016 Rio Games.
Akashy Kumar took to Twitter and lauded Sindhu.
“You did it again, #PVSindhu ! What focus and determination. Congratulations on bringing home the bronze! #Tokyo2020 #Cheer4India,” he wrote.

Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has already returned home with a silver medal, while boxer Lovlina Borgohain is assured of at least a bronze medal.
With this victory, Sindhu avenged her straight-game loss to world no. 1 Tai Tzu Ying in the semifinals on Saturday.
Wrestler Sushil Kumar is the only other Indian to have won two Olympic medals, following up his bronze in Beijing in 2008 with a silver in London.
