Telegram now supports video calls with up to 1000 viewers, video messages 2.0, video playback speed, and other features

New Delhi: Telegram has enabled group video calls for up to 1000 users in New Delhi. Video messages can be recorded in higher quality and expanded, but standard videos can be viewed at 0.5 or 2x speed. In addition, the messaging app has enabled screen sharing with sound to all video calls, including one-on-one talks – and much more.

Group video conversations allow up to 30 users to stream video from their camera as well as their screen – and now 1000 people may watch anything from online lectures to live rap battles. According to Telegram, this limit will be raised “until all humans on Earth may join one group call and hear us yodel in happiness (coming soon).”

To begin a Group Video Call, first, create a Voice Chat from the details page (in the menu on Android) of any group in which you are an admin, and then turn your video on.

Video messages are a convenient method to check-in or communicate your whereabouts without having to post another video to your portfolio. They now have greater resolution, and you can expand a video message to take in all those extra pixels by tapping on it.

According to the blog, touching on an extended video message pauses it and allows you to fast forward or rewind the message if you miss a word.

To record a video message, touch the Screen sharing option, which has also been added to 1-on-1 calls and now includes the sound from your device when broadcasting in any video session.
