Covid curbs are likely to be revised, and the weekend lockdown may be limited to Sunday

Thiruvananthapuram: The state’s weekend lockdown restrictions are likely to be revised. The government has been advised to limit weekend lockdown to Sundays only. The review meeting will be chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday afternoon. This meeting will make the final decision on the matter.

The government determined that implementing TPR-based regulations in local governments was both impractical and ineffective. As a result, the orders are issued based on information gathered at various levels by a committee of health experts and the Chief Secretary. One of the key recommendations is to avoid TPR-based curbs and instead implement restrictions in micro-containment zones or areas with a higher patient density.

It has also been proposed that stores be allowed to open six days a week. As a result, people will have more time, which will reduce overcrowding and maintain social distance. Many people complained that implementing a two-day weekend lockdown after allowing stores to open for five days was ineffective. As a result, it is suggested that the government limit the lockdown to Sunday only.

The expert panel concluded that Covid treatment from households is ineffective. As a result, the Chief Secretary’s Committee has recommended that those who have been diagnosed with Covid be transferred from their homes to hospitals until they test negative. The final decision in this regard will be made only after taking into account the potential of existing health-care systems.
