First batch of THESE Harley Davidson bikes completely booked for Indian market

According to an industry source, the first batch of Harley-Davidson motorcycles assigned to the Indian market this year has been completely pre-booked, indicating strong demand for the iconic brand in the country.

After Hero MotoCorp announced the prices for the 2021 model range in April, the booking process for 13 Harley-Davidson models priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom) began.

Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson announced a partnership for the Indian market in October of last year.

After Harley-Davidson decided to close its operations in India, Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has taken over the exclusive distribution rights of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, parts, and merchandise in India, as per its licencing agreement.

Hero MotoCorp has since added 12 Harley-Davidson dealers to its network, expanding its customer touch points across the country.

The two-wheeler behemoth is also working on a line of high-end motorcycles that will be sold in India under the Harley-Davidson brand.

“The company has already received bookings for over 100 motorcycles, including the entire inventory of the upcoming Pan America 1250 adventure motorcycle,” says the company.

Softail, Fat Bob, and Street Bob motorcycles are among the other models,” an industry source told PTI.

Hero MotoCorp currently operates 12 Harley-Davidson dealerships across the country.

According to the source, more units will be assigned to the country because the first batch is completely sold out.

He added that the iconic American brand has already begun taking reservations for the next batch.

“We will be soon making an announcement on the commencement of retail sales of Pan America 1250 in the country,” a Hero MotoCorp spokesperson said when contacted. At that time, we’ll provide more information.”

Hero MotoCorp expects a partnership with Harley-Davidson to help it expand its presence in the premium motorcycle segment, where it wants to build a comprehensive portfolio that spans segments and engine capacities.

The leader in the budget bike segment (100-110cc), the company is also working on electric two-wheelers for both the mass and premium markets.
