Not only are they qualified, but they are also fierce competitors.”

“The zeal, passion, and spirit of Indian players are at an all-time high. This assurance is gained when the right talent is identified and nurtured. This confidence emerges as the systems evolve and become more transparent. This newfound confidence is becoming synonymous with New India “The Prime Minister went on to say

At the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, India is represented by a 228-strong contingent that includes over 120 athletes. India has won two medals so far in the ongoing Olympic Games.

Mirabai Chanu, a weightlifter from India, won a silver medal in the women’s 49kg category, giving the country its first medal at Tokyo 2020. During her four successful attempts, Chanu lifted a total of 202 kg (87kg in snatch and 115kg in clean and jerk).

The best shuttler PV Sindhu is now only the second Indian after Sushil Kumar to win two individual medals at the Olympics. In the third-place play-off match in Tokyo, she defeated China’s He Bing Jiao to achieve the rare feat.

With Sindhu’s bronze, India has matched their total from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Both the men’s and women’s hockey teams advanced to the semifinals. The men’s team, on the other hand, was eliminated in the semi-finals by Belgium. They will now compete for a bronze medal.
