Kerala Tourism Takes to the Skies with Heli-Tourism Launch

In a groundbreaking move, Kerala’s Tourism Minister, P.A. Mohammed Riyas, inaugurated the state’s heli-tourism initiative, offering travellers a swift and scenic way to explore the region’s top destinations. The heli-tourism project, following the success of previous initiatives like houseboats and caravans, holds the potential to attract significant private investment, supported by Kerala’s innovative heli-tourism policy. At the inaugural function held at Nedumbassery, adjacent to Cochin International Airport, Minister Riyas handed out tickets to the first set of passengers and unveiled a dedicated microsite providing information on travel packages, trip details, and booking options. The heli-tourism initiative is expected to ease travel challenges caused by the state’s high population density, offering tourists a time-saving and efficient means of transportation. The government plans to expand the heli-tourism network by establishing new helipads in strategic locations as the project progresses under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
