New Delhi: In a startling change of events, actress Arzoo Govitrikar has filed for divorce from husband Siddharth Sabharwal, accusing him of domestic violence.
According to ETimes, Aarzoo filed a domestic abuse complaint against Siddharth on February 19, 2019, and the actress said that during a confrontation with her husband over his drinking problem, he pulled her to the bathroom and struck her.
“I did, in fact, file for divorce. Enough is enough, and I’m not going to take this any longer. I swallowed my pride and did my hardest. But everything came to a head, and I couldn’t continue working with Siddharth. I had never talked in the media before, not even when I was chased by journalists two years earlier. But I’ll speak to you today. I’d want to tell you that he grabbed my neck and tried to hurl me out of the flat. He slapped me on the back of the head. He kicked me in the stomach. There were days when I was beaten black and blue and couldn’t leave the house because I didn’t want my bruises to be seen “She revealed this to the entertainment website.
She went on to reveal horrifying details, saying, “Deta tha mujhe gandi gaaliyan deta tha. He even threw casteist insults at me. He also revealed to me that I am a bai. I used to have blackouts and my hands and legs would swell. I stopped sleeping, and if I did manage to sleep, I would awaken at 2 a.m.”
“Siddharth first touched me two years after our marriage. And after our son was born three years after we married, he and I just drifted away. He began sleeping in a different room. After that, I discovered he had a Russian girlfriend, with whom he was regularly in contact. I addressed him on the subject of her. I’m not sure if they’re still together because he lives alone. Mind you, I have those conversations and the CCTV evidence of his brutality, and they would aid me in obtaining justice “She said.
When asked about their child, Arzoo stated, “He adores our child, and he is currently hosting him in his home. I have never denied our child the opportunity to meet and spend time with his father. No woman wishes to end her marriage. That’s the last thing she does when she’s been forced up against a wall and has no other option. The gaalis, violence, and immorality had become too much to stomach.”
Arzoo made his acting debut in the Malayalam film Kakkakuyil in 2001. She went on to appear in films such as Baghban, Tulsi, Manmadhan, and Mere Baap Pehle Aap, among others.
She has also appeared in TV shows such as Ek Ladki Anjani Si, Ghar Ek Sapna, CID, and Balaji Telefilms’ Naagin 2.
Aditi Govitrikar’s sister is model-actress Arzoo.
