Mumbai doctor tests COVID-19 positive thrice in over one year, twice after being fully vaccinated

New Delhi:  In what is considered an uncommon event, a Mumbai doctor stated on Tuesday (July 27, 2021) that she had tested COVID-19 positive three times in over a year, with the virus infecting her twice after being completely vaccinated. Dr. Shrusthi Halari, 26, works at Mumbai’s Mulund COVID-19 Centre and has tested positive three times in the last 13 months, according to the Hindustan Times.

She became sick with coronavirus for the first time in June 2020, then again on May 29 and July 11 after being properly immunized. Dr. Shrusthi also indicated that by the end of April, her entire family had received both dosages and that they tested positive for the first time in July.

Dr. Shrusthi expressed that the reinfections are confusing.

“The third time, I suffered even more. My brother and mother both have diabetes, and my father suffers from hypertension and cholesterol issues. Because my brother was having trouble breathing, he was placed on oxygen for two days “According to HT, she said.

Her swab samples are currently being gathered for genome sequencing as part of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s investigation into the development of the infection following two doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

Meanwhile, Mumbai recorded five COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday, the lowest addition to the toll in a single day since March 16. So far, 15,789 people have died as a result of the coronavirus.

There were also 343 new illnesses in Mumbai, bringing the city’s coronavirus count to 7,34,761.
