YouTube producers who create YT Shorts videos can earn up to Rs 7.4 lakhs per month

YouTube is planning to pay up to $10,000 a month to creators who create and share YouTube Shorts on the video hosting platform. The Google-owned platform will pay content creators from a $100 million creator fund established to support the content creator ecosystem.

YouTube’s Chief Product Officer, Neal Mohan, told the Verge on one of the online publication’s podcasts that the company plans to begin sending payments to artists this month. He also mentioned that creators will be able to earn up to $10,000 per month (approximately Rs 7.41 lakhs) for creating YouTube Shorts.

YouTube first announced the Shorts creator fund in May 2021. However, YouTube hadn’t revealed many details about the fund at the time. “The popularity required to earn money will be determined by how many people make and watch Shorts each month, and compensation will also be determined by where each creator’s audience is located,” the Verge stated.

YouTube Shorts was introduced in India in September 2020, shortly after the Indian government banned the Chinese short video sharing app due to user privacy and national security concerns. Soon after its debut in India, YouTube Short expanded to more than 100 countries, including significant markets such as the United States.

How can you make money with YouTube Shorts?

Creators on YouTube who share short videos can earn money from the fund. However, in order to earn money using YouTube Shorts, creators must only publish original content.

YouTube will provide financial assistance to creators in ten new regions where the programme has been expanded. These regions include, among others, the United States, India, and Brazil.
