Mayank Srivastava, the director of Priya Prakash Varrier’s Love Hackers, discusses shooting in Russia in the midst of a pandemic

Mayank Prakash Srivastava directed the film Love Hackers, starring actress Priya Prakash Varrier and wink sensation Priya Prakash Varrier. The crime thriller, which is about cybercrime, recently finished a month of filming in Russia.

Priya will portray a victim who falls victim to cybercriminals. The film will also follow her as she works her way out of the position.

Director Mayank Srivastava discusses the difficulties of shooting in Russia during the pandemic, as well as the issues that arose when the majority of the team members tested positive.

He claims, “It was a huge struggle to shoot in Russia during the epidemic; 90% of our staff became infected with COVID before they could travel to Russia, so we had a small group to shoot the film. It was quite difficult to deal with the weather swings; the entire timetable was thrown off by the bad weather, and most of the shooting was done between 3 and -2 degrees Celsius, and language was also a hurdle.”

“Myself, one of my actresses, and two crew members tested positive in Moscow,” he continued. We were kept in the medical centre, where doctors tested our ECG, oxygen level, and temperature before summoning an ambulance to transport us to the hospital. They evaluated practically all factors before quarantining us and providing necessary medical treatment.

When asked about his work experience in Russia, he stated, “It was an incredible experience to shoot in Russia; people are really nice with Indians; many Russians asked us, “Are you Indian?” and when we responded yes, they said, “We Love India.” Russians like Amitabh Bachchan, Raj Kapoor, and Mithun Chakraborty in “Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aaja.””
