Traders say the new Covid-19 regulations are impractical
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala traders are sceptical about the new Covid-19 regulations’ practicality.
Only people “who have taken at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine within the last two weeks, or who are in possession of an RTPCR negative certificate taken within the last 72 hours, or who are in possession of COVID-19 positive results more than a month old” are allowed to visit the shops, according to a government order issued on August 5.
On Thursday, the police did not conduct any shop inspections.
Traders claim that carrying test results is impossible. They wonder how a customer who comes in to buy items worth Rs. 10 or Rs. 50 can conduct a test worth Rs. 500.
Some markets were closed on Thursday due to the fact that street vendors had not yet received the vaccine.
