Manasa Murder Case: A Bihar resident has been arrested for selling a gun to Rakhil

Kothamangalam police arrested a Bihar resident who allegedly sold the gun to Rakhil, the accused in the murder of a medical student Manasa. Sonu Kumar (21) was apprehended in Bihar by a police team led by Mahin, the SI of Kothamangalam Police.

He was brought before a court in Bihar, and police obtained a transit warrant to transport him to Kerala for questioning. After examining Rakhil’s phone call records, police questioned his friends and confirmed Sonu’s involvement in the crime. The police reached Sonu through a taxi driver in Bihar and were assisted in the arrest by Bihar police.

During the arrest, police officers’ friends attacked them and even fired shots at them. Police apprehended him through a daring operation.

According to police, Rakhil must have been trained in the use of a firearm. Police increased their investigation to identify those who had trained Rakhil to commit the crime. An investigation team will soon travel to Bengaluru, where Rakhil studied for his MBA. Rakhil, a police suspect, had also visited Bengaluru prior to the murder.

On July 30, PV Manasa, a BDS student at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences in Nellikuzhi, Kothamangalam, was murdered by Rakhil at the house she was renting.

Rakhil had rented a room in Kothamangalam near the college where Manasa was studying on July 4. He vanished two days after renting the room and returned just one day before the incident. Because he hadn’t seen him, the house owner contacted him, and Rakhil explained that he was in Palakkad for a business deal. Rakhil had travelled to various locations throughout the state during his 22-day absence. Rakhil was out of the state for eight days, travelling in Bengaluru, Mangalore, and Bihar.
