New Delhi: India observed a small decrease in daily COVID-19 cases and recorded 38,628 new infections on Saturday (August 7, 2021), according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In the last 24 hours, there were 617 new coronavirus-related fatalities and 40,017 recoveries.
The overall number of COVID-19 cases in India has now risen to 3,18,95,385, with a mortality toll of 4,27,371. The country now has 4,12,153 active coronavirus cases, down from 4,14,159 on Friday.

The Health Ministry announced that for the 41st consecutive day, less than 50,000 daily new COVID-19 cases were reported and that the weekly positivity rate is currently at 2.39 percent, while the daily positivity rate is at 2.21 percent.
With more than 43.29 lakh doses distributed on Friday, India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccine coverage has now surpassed 50 crores. In response to the success, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India’s campaign against COVID-19 has gained a significant boost.
So far, more than 17 crore people between the ages of 18 and 44 have received their first immunisation across 37 states and UTs, with Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh administering more than 1 crore cumulative doses.
