Twitter removes Rahul Gandhi’s tweet revealing the identity of the victim’s relatives in the Delhi rape and murder case

New Delhi: A controversial tweet by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with a picture of him meeting the family members of a nine-year-old Dalit girl who died in Delhi after an alleged sexual assault was removed from the microblogging website for violating its rules.

Gandhi tweeted in Hindi on Wednesday, with a picture of his meeting with the girl’s family: “The tears of parents can only mean one thing: their daughter, the daughter of this country, deserves justice. And I’m with them on this quest for justice.”

When I clicked on the tweet, I got the message “This tweet violated the Twitter rules.”

On Wednesday, the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) requested that the Delhi Police and Twitter take action against Gandhi for posting a photo of the girl’s family on the microblogging website, claiming that it violated the Juvenile Justice Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Gandhi met with the girl’s family members on Wednesday, declaring that he is with them on the road to justice and “will not back down even an inch.”
