Lara Dutta, a Bollywood actress, surprised everyone by dressing up as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her upcoming film ‘Bell Bottom.’
Lara Dutta shared a behind-the-scenes video of her transformation into former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on Thursday.
In the caption, she wrote, “I had never imagined portraying such a pivotal personality, and when I saw how this transformation translated on the screen, everything felt surreal and worthwhile. I can’t wait for you to see my performance in #BellBottom on the big screen in 3D on August 19th.”
The video was also shared by actor Akshay Kumar, who captioned it, “What bringing a character to life looks like… @larabhupathi, you nailed it in #BellBottom. On August 19th, see it in 3D and on the big screen.” Lara Dutta replied to the post, thanking Akshay. “Thank you, Akki, for your unending encouragement and support!! I would never have been able to pull this off if it hadn’t been for your belief in my ability to do so (sic).”
Lara is shown in the video sitting on a chair, surrounded by makeup artists and prosthetic experts.
Bell Bottom takes place in 1984, the year of Operation Bluestar and Mrs Gandhi’s assassination. The film, which stars Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Huma Qureshi, and Vaani Kapoor, will be released in theatres on August 19. The film is directed by Ranjit M Tewari and produced by Vashu Bhagnani.
