COVID-19: 13,049 cases reported in Kerala on Monday, with a death toll approaching 18,000

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 13,049 COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the state’s total number of cases reported to 35,65,574.

The state’s death toll has risen to 17,852 after 105 deaths were reported on Monday.

A total of 20,004 people were cured of the infection, bringing the total number of recoveries to 33,77,691.

According to a press release from Health Minister Veena George, the number of active cases has reached 1,69,512. For the past 39 days, the caseload has remained above one lakh.

In the previous 24 hours, 98,640 samples were tested, with a test positivity rate of 13.23%. So far, 2,86,12,776 samples have been sent for testing (including the augmented sample).

58 of the positive cases were health workers, 64 were from outside the state, and 12,300 were infected through contact. The source of 627 of them’s infection is unknown.
