Maria Oommen, Daughter of Former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy, Files Cyberbullying Complaint

Maria Oommen, the daughter of the late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, has lodged a formal complaint with the Director-General of Police (DGP) regarding cyberbullying. She submitted evidence in the form of screenshots depicting offensive posts and comments to the DGP’s office, urging the authorities to initiate a case against the perpetrators with non-bailable charges.

Previously, the police had already registered a case based on a cyberbullying complaint filed by Maria Oommen’s sister, Achu Oommen. The accused in that case was identified as Nandakumar Kolathappilly, a former additional secretary and a member of a leftist organization. Following the filing of the case, Nandakumar publicly apologized on Facebook.

During the campaign for the Pudupally by-election, Achu Oommen faced extensive online harassment and abuse. In response, Achu Oommen defended herself against controversies and cyberattacks, emphasizing her transparency in professional matters and asserting that she had not leveraged her father Oommen Chandy’s name for personal gain.
