Kerala records 21,119 new COVID cases, 152 deaths, and the TPR rises to 15.91 percent

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 21,119 new Covid cases on Tuesday, according to a press release from the state health department. With 152 new deaths, the death toll reached 18,004. The test positivity rate was 15.91 percent.

In the last 24 hours, 1,32,769 samples were tested. In total, 2,87,45,545 samples were sent for testing, including routine samples, sentinel samples, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, and antigen.

Forty new COVID patients were returned from out of state. Through contact, the virus infected 20,027 people. The source of infection for 941 patients has yet to be identified.

A total of 111 health workers tested positive for Covid-19. There were 23 from Kannur, 17 from Palakkad, 14 from Kasaragod, 12 from Wayanad, 7 from Kottayam, 6 from Kollam, Alappuzha, and Kozhikode, 5 from Thiruvananthapuram, 4 from Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, 2 from Pathanamthitta, and 1 from Idukki.

In the meantime, the state reported 18,493 recoveries.

The local bodies were classified based on the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is greater than 10 in 266 wards of 52 local governments. In these areas, strict restrictions will be imposed.
