Mathias Ried-Larsen, PhD, conducted the study by analysing the health data of almost 7,000 persons with diabetes from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study. The data included a questionnaire regarding medical history, sociodemographic information, and lifestyle information that was administered in ten Western European countries between 1992 and 2000.
