Transfer news for Lionel Messi: ‘We’re back together,’ says Neymar as PSG closes in on signing Messi

Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) confirmed the signing of Argentine striker Lionel Messi on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the club almost confirmed the signing via its social media accounts. PSG posted a short video on Twitter with the Eiffel Tower in the background and six Ballon d’Or on the side.

On Tuesday, Brazil striker Neymar Jr posted an Instagram storey with Messi, captioning it “Back together.”
Neymar and Messi used to be teammates for Barcelona, but they split up after the Brazilian striker joined PSG.

Messi arrived in Paris earlier on Tuesday ahead of his rumoured medical with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine legend is set to sign a new two-year contract with PSG.

Messi admitted that a move to PSG was still a possibility, but nothing was certain at the time.

However, with his arrival in Paris, a move to PSG appears to be on the cards. Earlier, Goal.com reported, citing L’Equipe, that Messi had agreed to terms with Paris Saint-Germain. Messi is taking on a new challenge with a Ligue 1 team, with a reported two-year contract – with a 12-month extension option – set to be signed at Parc des Princes.

Earlier this summer, Messi was set to sign a new five-year contract with FC Barcelona. However, the club announced on Thursday that the deal could not be completed due to “financial and structural obstacles,” leaving Messi as a free agent.
