COVID-19 scare: Canada is experiencing its fourth wave of coronavirus

Canada is experiencing a fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, with strains of the virus spreading across the country, according to Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, Theresa Tam, on Thursday (August 12).
Tam told a press conference that the country’s national case count has been declining since late July, according to the Xinhua news agency.

According to CTV, Canada recorded 2,138 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday (August 12), bringing the total to 1,447,439 cases, including 26,692 deaths.

On Thursday (August 12), Ontario, Canada’s most populous province, had 513 new cases, the most since mid-June. The last time Ontario reported more than 500 Covid-19 instances in a single day was on June 13, when 530 cases were discovered.

Meanwhile, Alberta reported 550 new cases, and British Columbia reported 513 new infections.

“We’ve been keeping a close eye on the rise in COVID-19 activity around the country. According to the most recent national surveillance statistics, a fourth wave is underway in Canada, and instances are on a strong rebound trajectory “She stated.

In Canada, there are already over 13,000 active cases, which is more than quadruple the number from late July. Tam stated that 1,500 new cases are reported every day, with the bulk of victims being between the ages of 20 and 39.
