The Afghan government offers the Taliban a “share of power”

Kabul: The Afghan government has offered the Taliban a share of power in exchange for a halt to the country’s rising violence, according to Al Jazeera, citing a government source.
According to the source, the proposal was delivered through Qatar, the host of Afghan peace talks.
In another development, Abdullah Abdullah, the head of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), presented the Afghan government’s plan for ending the ongoing war in Afghanistan to members of the Troika-plus.
According to Abdullah, the Afghan government is committed to resolving the ongoing conflicts through negotiations.

On Wednesday evening, the head of the HCNR addressed representatives from the United States, China, Pakistan, and Russia at the Troika-plus meeting in Doha.
Abdullah went on to say that the world’s major powers, as well as Afghans, want an independent and united Afghanistan free of terrorism.
He also accused the Taliban of being uninterested in peace talks, which has resulted in a stalemate in intra-Afghan talks.
