President Kovind greets citizens on India’s 75th Independence Day and urges everyone to get vaccinated

On the eve of India’s 75th Independence Day, August 14, at 7 p.m., President Ram Nath Kovind greeted and addressed the nation.

President Kovind spoke on a variety of topics in his address, saying that the world looks up to India as a miracle that reflects a diversity of traditions while remaining the largest and most vibrant democracy.

He urged citizens to get vaccinated against Covid-19 as soon as possible and to work together to build a stronger nation.

“Vaccines are currently the best form of protection provided by science for all of us. I urge all citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible in accordance with protocol “President Ram Nath Kovind stated.

He stated, “Parliament is the ‘temple of the country’s democracy,’ providing the highest forum to discuss, debate, and decide issues for the well-being of the people,” remarks that came against the backdrop of the recent ruckus and continuous disruptions that led to the two Houses’ abrupt adjournment.

His remarks came after Parliament was adjourned sine die two days earlier than scheduled, following a tumultuous Monsoon session that saw unruly scenes in the Upper House on Wednesday while the Insurance bill was being debated.

‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ means ‘Azadi’s Amrit Mahotsav.’

The President said in his address to the nation on the eve of Independence Day, “It gives me great pleasure to wish all Indians, both in India and abroad, a very Happy Independence Day! This day is significant because it marks the start of the 75th year of India’s independence, which is commemorated by ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.’ My heartfelt congratulations on this momentous occasion!”

In response to the farmers’ protests and concerns, the President stated that “a series of agricultural marketing reforms will empower our ‘annadata’ farmers and help them get better prices for their produce.”

In reference to the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics, he praised the country’s athletes for their “stellar” performance.

“Our athletes brought laurels to the nation with their stellar performances at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics,” Kovind said.

“Looking back over the last 75 years, India has made significant progress. Indian athletes made history at the recent Olympics 2020, making the country proud. In these games, India’s daughters also achieved international success,” he added.

President Ram Nath Kovind acknowledged the Corona warriors, who include doctors, nurses, health workers, administrators, and others who have risked their lives to halt the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Our corona warriors, doctors, nurses, and health workers, administrators, and others risked everything to keep the second wave at bay.”
