The number of active COVID-19 infections in India continues to fall as the country sees 32,937 new infections

New Delhi: Continuing a downward trend for the second day in a row, India recorded 32,937 new COVID-19 infections in the previous 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday (August 16, 2021). The country’s active coronavirus count has now fallen to 3,81,947 from 3,85,336 on Sunday. The number of active cases is currently 1.18 percent of all cases, the lowest since March 2020.

In the last 24 hours, there were 417 new deaths and 35,909 recoveries, bringing the total death toll to 4,31,642 and the total number of recoveries to 3.14 crore. The health ministry reported that India’s COVID-19 recovery rate is now at 97.48 percent, the highest since March 2020.

Earlier on Sunday, during his Independence Day address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that Indians battled the COVID-19 period with tenacity and patience.

“We faced numerous challenges. Countrymen excelled in every endeavor. Because of the strength of our entrepreneurs and scientists, the country is not reliant on anyone or any country for vaccines. Consider what might happen if we didn’t have the COVID-19 vaccine. How long did it take for the polio vaccine to be available? Obtaining vaccines amid such a massive crisis, with a pandemic afflicting the entire world, was incredibly challenging “According to the Prime Minister.

He also praised India’s vaccination program and stated that online systems like Cowin and digital certifications are catching the attention of the globe today.

“The manner India has kept the stoves blazing in poor houses for months throughout the epidemic by supplying free food grains to 80 crore countrymen is not only amazing to the globe but also debatable.” It is true that fewer individuals have been infected in India than in other countries; it is also true that in comparison to the population of other nations, we have saved more citizens in India; nonetheless, this is not anything to be proud of! We can’t rest on our laurels. To say that there was no challenge, will become a restrictive thought in the path of our own development,” he added.
