Thiruvananthapuram: Wayanad has become Kerala’s first district to finish administering the first dose of vaccine to all adults over the age of 18.

State Health Minister Veena George praised the efforts of health workers involved in the inoculation process of the district’s targeted population over the age of 18 on Monday.

According to George, the first dose of vaccine was administered to 6,16,112 people over the age of 18. “Those who tested positive for the infection, those who were quarantined, and those who refused the vaccine were exempted from the drive,” she explained.

Kerala reported 18,582 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total infection count to 36.69 lakh, while the number of people dying from the disease rose to 18,601 with 102 deaths.
