COVID vaccine: 50.25 percent of Kerala’s population received the first dose

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has announced that more than half of the total population has been vaccinated against COVID for the first time. According to the projected population of 3.54 million in 2021, 50.25 percent (1,77,88,931) received the first dose.
Kerala met the target in 213 days after launching the vaccination campaign on January 16.

The minister praised the vaccination drive’s organisers, health workers, officials, public representatives, and other volunteers for their efforts.

Until now, a total of 2,45,13,225 people have received the vaccine, including the first and second doses. The first dose was given to 1,77,88,931 people, and the second dose was given to 67,24,294 people.

The first dose was given to 50.25 percent of the population, and the second dose was given to 19 percent.

Meanwhile, 61.98 percent of people over the age of 18 received the first dose, and 23.4 percent received the second dose, which is higher than the national average.

In Kerala, women are vaccinated at a higher rate than men. In Kerala, 1,27,53,073 women and 1,17,55,197 men were immunised. 75,27,242 doses were given to people between the ages of 18 and 44. Meanwhile, 83,31,459 doses were administered to people aged 45 to 60. People over the age of 60 received 86,54,524 doses.
