Heavy Rain in Capital: Orange Alert in Four Districts Today

Widespread rain has enveloped Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, with precipitation reported in both urban and interior areas. The continuous rain, initiated the previous night, has slightly eased but persists. The meteorological explanation attributes this persistent rainfall to a cyclonic circulation near Sri Lanka. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) suggests the possibility of moderate rain in isolated areas across Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki districts in the next three hours.

Additionally, the meteorological center has issued an alert, forecasting the likelihood of isolated heavy rain in the state until Wednesday. The strengthening easterly winds, influenced by the cyclonic circulation near Sri Lanka, contribute to this weather pattern. An orange alert is in effect for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Idukki, indicating expected heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm within 24 hours. Simultaneously, a yellow alert has been issued for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts today.
