The Afghan war is over, and everyone has been pardoned, according to a Taliban spokesman

Kabul: The Taliban declared that the Afghan war was over and that all of their opponents would be pardoned during their first news conference since seizing power from the Western-backed government in Kabul on Tuesday.
“The war has ended… (the leader) has pardoned everyone,” said spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, adding, “We are committed to allowing women to work in accordance with Islamic principles.”

The Taliban’s deputy leader, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, who also co-founded the movement, arrived in Kandahar shortly before he spoke, landing in the insurgent group’s former capital just days after they took control of the country.

Mujahid stated that the Taliban would soon establish a government, but provided little information about its composition other than to say that they would “connect with all sides.”

“From A to Z, everyone on the other side is forgiven,” he said.

“We will not seek retaliation.”

When asked what the difference is between the Taliban of today and the Taliban of 20 years ago, he said, “If the question is based on ideology and beliefs, there is no difference… but if we calculate it based on experience, maturity, and insight, there are no doubt many differences.”
“Today’s steps will be significantly different from previous steps,” he added.
