Locals in Pakistan convert a cricket stadium into farmland to raise chilies and pumpkins

In a surprising turn of events, a cricket stadium in Pakistan has been converted into farmland, with villagers now using the athletic venue to raise chilies, pumpkins, and other vegetables. The images of the cricket stadium in Khanewal, Pakistan’s Punjab Province, have gone viral.

According to sources, the stadium had practically all of the necessary infrastructure, such as a practice area, pavilion, and ground, but it is now under the hands of local farmers.

Shoaib Jatt, a Pakistani sports writer, released a video saying the same.

Matches have usually been played in Lahore and Karachi since the reintroduction of international cricket in Pakistan. Previously, Multan and Faisalabad were two of Pakistan’s best international sites, but with so little cricket played, stadium conditions have deteriorated.

The New Zealand tour of Pakistan is shrouded with ominous clouds.
According to PTI, New Zealand will go on with its tour of Pakistan pending approval from security adviser Reg Dickason, after some Kiwi players expressed reservations about visiting the country following the Taliban’s takeover of neighboring Afghanistan.

New Zealand will arrive in Islamabad on September 11 to play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty-Twenty Internationals (T20Is) in Rawalpindi and Lahore until October 3.

However, New Zealand Cricket officials have now commissioned international security consultant and expert Reg Dickason to visit Pakistan later this week to conduct a complete security and COVID-19 evaluation before deciding whether to send their squad to Pakistan.
