Afghan conflict: Infant turned up to US troops at Kabul airport wired fence is treated and reunited with family

As a Taliban-controlled Afghanistan descends into a humanitarian disaster, a baby is seen being delivered to US troops through a barbed-wire fence at the Kabul airport in a heartbreaking sight.

As a frenzied swarm of Afghans urged a troop of Marines to let them in, an outstretched hand produced a newborn, just a few months old, and held the infant up for the soldiers to view.

As the images spread, the Pentagon acknowledged that the baby required immediate medical attention and was treated at a Norwegian hospital before being reunited with its father.

“Because the infant was ill, the parent begged the Marines to look after it, and the Marine you see reaching over the wall transported it to a Norwegian hospital at the airport. They treated the infant and returned it to the child’s father “According to the news agency ANI, US Defense Department spokesperson John Kirby stated on Friday.

According to Marine Corps spokesperson Jim Stenger, the baby is currently “secure at the airport” behind the US military’s perimeter.

According to the article, Kirby and Stenger did not provide any information on whether the infant and father will depart Afghanistan, or whether any other family members arrived at the airport.

American and British security officers stationed at the Kabul airport’s perimeter can be seen manning the wall in the footage.

According to accounts, several Afghan families are desperately trying to flee the new Taliban administration and have been spotted throwing their newborns over the walls of the wire encircling Kabul airport.

The situation in Afghanistan is dire, as hundreds continue to flee the Taliban’s clutches, and Afghans have taken to the streets in protest of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s leadership.
