DNA exclusive: Heartwrenching pictures show Taliban’s terrorising takeover of Afghanistan

New Delhi: A barbed wire fence separates US and UK troops from thousands of desperate Afghans attempting to flee the country at Kabul airport. These men and women have been pleading for assistance from the troops from behind barbed wire and gates. According to a Sky News report, the daily experience of standing guard against the Taliban and thousands of Afghans pleading for help has haunted the troops. According to a senior British official, some troops were crying at night after seeing women throw their children over barbed wire and ask soldiers to catch them on the other side.

After the Taliban insurgents took control of Afghanistan, thousands of Afghans were seen rushing to the airport in the hope of boarding a plane and escaping the Taliban’s barbaric torture. However, after realising how difficult it was to enter the airport, these people decided to stay outside and send their children inside to ensure their children’s safety. Shocking videos have emerged on social media showing women and parents pleading with troops at Kabul airport to ‘catch the little ones’ by throwing their children on the barbed wire. The images and videos are heartwarming enough to keep you awake for the next few nights.

After 20 years of conflict, the Taliban swept to victory and completed their shocking rapid advances across the country by capturing Kabul on August 15. This came after US and UK troops announced their withdrawal in response to a deal struck between the US and the Taliban, two decades after US forces deposed insurgents in 2001. Thousands of people have been killed and millions have been displaced as a result of the conflict.

Children and parents of Afghans born in the last two decades must have wished for a better life. Some of them had aspired to be athletes, doctors, engineers, or scientists. However, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s decision to flee the country and take refugees to the UAE, leaving the country and its citizens in the hands of the Taliban, changed everything.

A similar dream was witnessed by Zaki Anwari, a 19-year-old Afghan footballer who was among those killed after clinging to a US military plane departing from Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul bound for Doha. According to reports, his remains were discovered in the aircraft’s wheel well when it landed in Doha. Anwari was identified as one of those who stormed the runway in a desperate attempt to cling to evacuating flights, according to a report on france24.com. According to the report, he was a high school student and member of the country’s national junior football team.

He was trapped in the landing gear of a US evacuation flight, according to a report on dailymail.co.uk.

Afghanistan’s current situation has destroyed the lives and dreams of thousands of Afghan youths. People who have managed to get into Kabul airport are unsure whether they will be able to survive. Those who are still waiting on the other side of the airport, desperate to leave the country, are well aware that they could be shot by Taliban fighters at any time.
