Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar wants relations with all countries, particularly the United States

Kabul: The Taliban declared on Saturday that they intend to establish economic and trade ties with all countries, including the United States.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan wishes to establish diplomatic and trade relations with all countries, particularly the United States of America,” the group’s co-founder and deputy leader, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, said today in a Twitter posting, according to Xinhua News Agency.

In response to media reports that the Taliban did not intend to establish diplomatic and trade ties with the United States, he stated: “We never discuss severing trade ties with any country. The rumour about this news was propaganda. It is not correct “According to Xinhua News Agency, he stated.

Taliban leader Baradar is in Kabul to begin formal talks with Afghan political leaders about forming a government, according to a senior leader of the group that has taken control of Afghanistan.

The developments occurred shortly after Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) leader Gulbadin Hekmatyar announced that formal talks between the group and Afghan leaders would begin once Taliban leaders arrived in Kabul, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

According to a media report, the Taliban has been attempting to persuade the world that once they regain control of Afghanistan after 20 years, they will sever ties with terror groups such as al-Qaeda and will seek the world’s recognition and approval.

The Taliban’s long history of association with terror groups, as well as their family-based relationships with terrorists from other groups, have raised serious doubts about the Taliban’s commitment during the Doha agreement to not provide safe havens to any terrorist in Afghanistan. (ANI)
