COVID-19: Active cases are decreasing, but there are 403 new fatalities

New Delhi: According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday, India recorded 30,948 new coronavirus infections, while active cases decreased to 3,53,398 representing 1.09 percent of total infections.

The total number of COVID-19 cases has now reached 3,24,24,234. According to data updated at 8 a.m., the death toll has risen to 4,34,367, with 403 new casualties.
The number of active cases has dropped to 3,53,398, the lowest in 152 days, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to 97.57 percent, the highest since March 2020, according to the health ministry.

In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has been reduced by 7,942 cases.

On Saturday, 15,85,681 tests were carried out, bringing the total number of COVID-19 detection tests carried out in the country to 50,62,56,239. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.95 percent. For the last 27 days, it has been less than 3%.

The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2%. According to the ministry, it has been below 3% for the past 58 days.

According to the data, the number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 3,16,36,469, with a case fatality rate of 1.34 percent.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19. On May 4, India passed the two-crore mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore mark. PTI
