The UAE will issue tourist visas to Indian passport holders with a 14-day grace period

Dubai: According to a media report on Sunday, Indian passport holders who have not visited the country in the last 14 days can obtain tourist visas to the UAE.

Other than India, the facility has been extended to Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Uganda, according to Gulf News.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, only UAE citizens and transit passengers are currently permitted to fly to the UAE.

The approval of tourist visas for Indian passport holders who have not visited the country in the last two weeks coincides with the UAE’s gradual opening of its borders.

All passengers will be subjected to a Polymerase Chain Reaction test on the day of their arrival and again on the ninth day after arriving in the UAE.

In the meantime, the UAE has announced that it will accept passengers from Pakistani airports in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. Previously, arrivals from Pakistan were restricted to transit passengers only.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the coronavirus has claimed 2,018 lives and caused 708,302 confirmed infections in the UAE.
