Ram Gopal Varma to Make 1st Lesbian Action Drama of India
Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has announced a lesbian crime action drama. Web film named Dangerous stars Naina Ganguly and Apsara Rani in leading roles. As per the director, Dangerous is India’s first such film that will “culturally elevate the stigma of LGBT after the honourable Supreme Court repealed section 377 (sic),” whatever it means. He congratulated Apsara Rani and Naina Ganguly for instigating a new age in Indian cinema.
Varma also said that the film is a crime drama at the centre of which is a “highly tragic and extremely intense love story.”
”In DANGEROUS my intention is to depict a love story between 2 women with as much respect and dignity as between a man and a woman like what the posters suggest.Incidentally they have been designed by the highly talented @CreativePsychoo (sic),” Varma tweeted.
