Kerala Government to Secure Additional Rs 1000 Crore in Borrowing for Expenditure Needs

The Kerala state government is considering borrowing an additional Rs 1000 crore to cover its revenue expenditure, supplementing the Rs 6300 crore already borrowed during the Onam season. This move leaves only Rs 1000 crore within the Rs 22,000 crore borrowing limit for the year, although there is potential for borrowing adjustments by the Central government after December. In this scenario, Kerala may need to secure more funds in the final three months of the fiscal year to cover year-end expenses. An auction for recently acquired bonds is scheduled for September 26 at the Reserve Bank’s Mumbai Fort office, conducted through the e-Kuber system.
