Saudi Arabia to Expand Low-Cost Flights for Hajj Pilgrims from India

Saudi Arabia plans to introduce more low-cost direct flights to India for Hajj pilgrims, according to Saudi Hajj-Umrah Minister Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah. The announcement came after discussions with Indian officials in Delhi. Dr. Al-Rabiah stated that three additional visa centers would be opened in India, and facilities would be expanded based on the growing number of pilgrims. He also mentioned the introduction of stopover visas for Indians traveling to the West or the Middle East, allowing a 96-hour stay for Umrah and visits to any city in Saudi Arabia. The move aims to enhance cooperation and facilitate Hajj pilgrimages for Indian citizens.

Indian officials, including Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani and Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan, welcomed the agreement, emphasizing the significance of Hajj in India-Saudi bilateral relations. This development aligns with efforts to enhance travel and pilgrimage-related services, making the process more accessible and convenient for Indian pilgrims.
