Kerala is expected to receive “extremely heavy rain” over the next two days, prompting an orange alert in eight districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is expected to receive ‘extremely heavy rain’ over the next two days, according to the Central Meteorological Department’s forecast. On Saturday, an orange alert was issued in the districts of Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur as a precautionary measure. The districts of Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad will be on orange alert on Sunday. Many districts have also been placed on yellow alert until Monday.

The department expects 115.5 mm to 204.4 mm of rain in 24 hours by using the term “very heavy rainfall.” According to the report, many places could see isolated rainfall totals of over 204.4 mm over the next few days.

Yellow alerts have been issued in several districts.

Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod are all on the 30th of August.
